Prof. Taeghwan Hyeon 

 


 

 Prof. Taeghwan Hyeon is a Distinguished University professor at School of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Seoul National University and a director of Nanomaterials Lab. He joined SNU in September, 1997 as a faculty member.

 

 He graduated Department of Chemistry, SNU in 1987 and got his Ph. D. degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with majoring in inorganic chemistry, 1996 (Advisor: Kenneth S. Suslick). He worked as Postdoctoral Research Associate, Northwestern University, Catalysis Center, June 1996-July 1997 (Advisor: Wolfgang M. H. Sachtler).

 

 He is an associate editor of J. Am. Chem. Soc. since September 2010 and participated in many journals as a member of editorial boards.

 

  He was one of Top 100 Chemists of the decade (2000-2010), selected by UNESCO & IUPAC (ranked at 37th in chemistry area; 19th in Materials Science).

 

  He received many awards and honors. Some of them are as follows: Ho-Am Prize   (Samsung Hoam Foundation), June 2012; POSCO-T J Park Award, POSCO-ChungAm   Foundation, March, 2008; The 4th DuPont Science and Technology Award, DuPont Korea,   April, 2005.
