Professor Joseph D. Park (1906-1989) was born in Hawaii of Korean

  parents and attended elementary and high school there. He received

  B. Ch. E.  from the University of Daton, Ohio in 1929 and got his Ph.D. degree 

  at Ohio  State University in 1937. He worked on fluorine chemistry.   

  He served as Chair of Div. of Fluorine chemistry, ACS in 1968.

  He also served as a 2^nd president of KAIST from 1972-1974.
