Prof. Ryong Ryoo is a Distinguished Professor of Department of Chemistry, KAIST and Director of center for Nanomaterials and Chemical reactions, Institute for Basic Science (IBS).

 He graduated Department of Industrial Chemistry, Seoul National University in 1977 and got his Ph. D. degree from Stanford University in 1986. he joined KAIST in 1986.

 He received many awards and honors: Thomson Reuters Citation laureate (2014), 10 Breakthroughs of Year 2011, Ho-Am Prize  in Science (2010).
