Prof.  Do Y. Yoon

Prof. Do Y. Yoon is Consulting Professor of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University since 2012. He obtained his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Seoul National University in 1969, and earned his Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1973 (Advisor: Prof. Richard S. Stein). From 1973 to 1975 he  did postdoctoral study with Paul J. Flory (1910-1985, Nobel Laureate in 1974) at Stanford University.

He worked as Research Staff Member and Manager of Polymer Physics Group in IBM Research Laboratory in San Jose from 1975 to 1999. He joined as a Professor of Chemistry at Seoul National University from 1999 to 2012. He was also Visiting Professor at Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (2000-2006), National Institute of Standards and Technology (2006-2012), and University of Bayreuth (2012).

His research areas include molecular conformations, chain dynamics, semicrystalline morphology, liquid crystalline order, surface and thin film characteristics of polymers, and structure-property relationships of polymers for information technology and clean energy.

He published about 250 research papers. He is co-editor of (1) Selected Works of Paul J. Flory and (2) Paul John Flory - A Life of Science and Friends.

He was elected a Fellow of American Physical Society in 1985. He received a Senior Humboldt Research Award in 1999.
