Dr. Hyung-Sup Choi (1920-2004) majoring in metallurgy from Minnesota University was the first president of KIST. He recruited many scientists and engineers to work at KIST from abroad and consolidated the function of KIST. He served as minister of Science and Technology from 1971 to 1978 and contributed a lot for the development of science and technology.
